The Atomic Backland 86 UL is a dedicated touring ski built for uphill efficiency and confident descents. At 165 cm it’s designed to balance lightness for long approaches with enough stability to handle a variety of snow conditions.

Weighing 970 g per ski, the Backland 86 UL cuts down on fatigue during skin tracks while still offering a firm platform on the way down. Its 85 mm waist provides a versatile mix of edge grip on harder snow and float when the terrain softens, and the flat binding deck lets you choose and position your own bindings to suit your touring setup.

The 15.2 m radius creates medium-sized turns that feel controlled without demanding constant rail-to-rail skiing, and the sidecut dimensions of 118.5/85/106.5 mm deliver smooth transitions from tip to tail. A narrower waist speeds edge changes, while the slightly broader tip and tail help with stability and flotation in variable snow.

Ideal for fast and light touring, the ultralight Atomic Backland 86 UL utilizes All-Terrain Profile to deliver the lightest weight performance of any other Atomic ski in the 86mm waist category. The result of intensive testing and research, the redesigned core construction uses a unique ratio of wood and fiberglass for lighter, more efficient climbing and stronger downhill performance. Built using a poplar and caruba Ultra Light Woodcore, the ski features an ultra-lightweight carbon insert that runs the length of the ski to act as a stabilizing backbone, striking the perfect balance of low weight and optimal power. Perfect for powder, piste, and everything in between, the lightweight HRZN 3D tip uses a thin, perforated material to increase surface area for improved float in deeper snow conditions and to create a ski with low swing weight. All Mountain Rocker provides an early rise in the tip for a ski profile suitable for on or off-piste. A cut-out notch in the tip allows for compatibility with Atomic PreFit skins.
